At Pickleball Park NZ, we want everyone to enjoy a safe, welcoming, and fun environment. This Code of Conduct applies to all players, members, visitors, parents/guardians, official, and staff while at the facility or representing Pickleball Park NZ at events.
By entering our facility or participating in our activities, you agree to follow this Code of Conduct.
1. Resect for people

Treat all players, staff, volunteers, officials, and visitors with respect, courtesy, and fairness.

No bullying, harassment, discrimination, or threatening behaviour of any kind.

Respect cultural diversity and different skill levels and abilities.
-
Use respectful langauge -- no abusive, offensive, or degrading comments in person or online.
2. Fair play and sportsmanship

Play by the rules of pickleball and any competition rules in force.

Show good sportsmanship: win with humility, lose with grace.

Respect referees, umpires, and organisers -- their decisions are to be accepted without abuse.

Do not deliberately injure another person or endanger others' safety on or off the court.
3. Safe and responsible behaviour

Follow all health and safety instructions, signage, and staff directions.
-
Use equipment, courts, and facilities only for their intended purpose and with care.
-
Report hazards, damage, accidents, or unsafe behaviour to staff as soon as possible.
-
Alcohol and/or drug-affected behaviour that endangers others or disrupts the environment is not tolerated.
4. Court etiquette

Be on time and start and finish our session promptly.

Honour booking times and rotation rules so courts can be shared fairly.
-
Keep noise at a reasonable level and be mindful of others playing nearby.

Do not coach, drill, or run structured sessions on shared courts unless approved or booked for that purpose.

Return balls and equipment courteously; avoid throwing or hitting balls in anger.
5. Children and young people

Children must be supervised in accordance with facility rules and age requirements.

Parents/guardians are responsible for:

ensuring their children understand and follow this Code

behaviour and safety of their children while at the facility.

Any concerns about a child's safety or wellbeing must be reported to staff immediately.
6. Use of café and common areas
-
Treat café and seating areas as shared spaces -- be considerate of others.
-
Keep areas tidy and dispose of rubbish in the bins provided.

Follow any food and drink rules for court areas (e.g., no glass, no open drinks on courts).

Respect staff instructions regarding service, seating, and closing times.
7. Photography, media, CCTV, and on-court recording

Pickleball Park NZ uses CCTV throughout the facility and on-court cameras for recording play and instant replay as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may take photos or video for promotional and community purposes. If you prefer not to appear in close-up promotional content, please tell staff or email us at privacy@pickleballpark.co.nz.

Do not take photos or videos of others in a way that is invasive, harassing, or inappropriate. Always respect reasonable requests not to be filmed or photographed.
8. Property and personal belongings

Respect the property of others and of Pickleball Park NZ.

Do not damage, vandalise, or remove any facility property or equipment.
-
You are responsible for your own belongings; please keep valuable with you or securely stored.
9. Breaches of the Code
If this Code of Conduct is breached, we may take action which can include:

informal discussion or verbal warning
-
temporary removal from the court area
-
cancellation of a booking or participation in an event
-
written warning or suspension of membership
-
termination of membership or banning from the facility
-
contact authorities where behaviour is unlawful or poses serious risk
We will aim to act fairly and proportionately, but we may act immediately and decisively where safety is at risk.
